The district electoral authority
The district electoral authority has a chairman and nine assessors who are nominated by the parties in proportion to the results of the most recent local council election. Only the assessors are entitled to vote. The chairman only decides if there is a tie.
In Strache’s case that was District electoral authority of the 3rd district composed as follows: 4 SPÖ, 3 FPÖ, 1 ÖVP, 1 Greens. Neos and THC (Team HC Strache) each had 1 confidante on the committee, but without voting rights.
The city electoral authority
In principle, it is structured similarly to the district electoral authority. Its chairman is the city council responsible for the elections Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ). He also has nine assessors (4 SPÖ, 3 FPÖ, 1 Greens, 1 ÖVP). Neos and THC have each nominated a shop steward for the committee, they are not entitled to vote.
