Stormy passions in parliament! What Lorer took from Ninova

The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) and the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA) to move to the newly formed Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the National Assembly voted in first reading with amendments to the Investment Promotion Act.

The texts were adopted by 127 votes to 1, with no abstentions, but sparked heated discussions. Before the final vote, Desislava Atanasova (GERB-UDF) suggested that the deputies move on to the next item on the agenda. She appealed to the Speaker of the National Assembly and the ruling party to show common sense and not to vote on the bill, because if they do not, the opposition will challenge it in the Constitutional Court.

Lyuben Dilov from GERB-UDF addressed the ruling party with the words: “Mr. Laurer is going up to Mrs. Ninova, he’s just taking her money from her ministry.”

After the vote, Stanislav Anastasov of the MRF said from the rostrum that what happened today puts an end to all the demands of this majority for legality, integrity and honesty. “I sincerely regret that on the day of the Constituent Assembly we trampled on the memory of Antim the First,” he added.

However, in the course of the discussion, the petitioner Petar Kulenski from “We continue the Change” stated that the bill is technical and is related to the new structure of the Council of Ministers voted on December 13 and the established Ministry of Innovation and Growth. The amendments are purely technical and they are related to the possibility of the new ministry to exercise its rights as a principal in IBA and BDB, the petitioner noted.
