Sheffield United – Arsenal 1–2

It was at the final stage between Sheffield United and Arsenal that the TV pictures went black. By then, David McGoldrick’s home team had just made it 1-1.

In Viasat’s studio it was thought that it was due to storms in England, but in the aftermath it would turn out that it was the rain in Oslo that sabotaged the broadcast.

– It was actually the storm in Oslo that knocked out a satellite. It’s hammering in the ceiling, but fortunately we managed to get the pictures back so we could see Arsenal win, Daniel Høglund said afterwards.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the pictures to be back in place. Then it didn’t take many seconds before Dani Ceballo hammered in 2-1.

That decided the quarterfinals match.

– It was a real storm over Økern that caused the satellite connection to England to disappear for a few minutes on the television broadcast. The Viaplay feud with English commentators was up throughout the match, says Fredrik Olimb, Viaplay’s press officer.

Penalty to Arsenal

Arsenal took the lead after 22 minutes of play. Then Alexandre Lacazette was tackled by a clumsy Chris Basham just inside the sixteen meter. It resulted in a penalty for Arsenal, which Nicolas Pépé certainly put in the bottom right corner.

Sheffield equalized in the 87th minute after a throw-in that put the ball past two Arsenal players before it landed with David McGoldrick, who looked to secure extra passes.

However, this was not the case. Arsenal and Ceballos wanted it different, and so Sheffield is out of the FA Cup.

Canceled Sheffield United goal

The home team at the same time looked to have a dream start to the match. After only eight minutes played, John Lundstram headed the ball into the net. Unfortunately for Sheffield, the goal was canceled after VAR check. Sheffield also got a goal deflected after a free-kick variant in the second half.

Lundstram had to leave with a shoulder injury after 25 minutes of play. In came Sander Berge.

Berge, who has been struggling since the corona break, seemed to have a more positive experience on Sunday.
