Storm leaves affectations in municipalities of the Mixteca

HUAJUAPAN DE LEÓN, Oaxaca.- The meteorologist of the State Civil Protection Coordination of Oaxaca (CEPCO), Cutberto Ruiz Jarquín, reported that the local storm that has been experienced in the last 24 hours left damages in some municipalities of the Mixteca.

He said that in the month of April local storms are very common, due to the clash of cold air masses and hot air masses, which produce storms that are sometimes felt with greater intensity in the Mixteca.

The municipal president of Mariscala de Juárez, Hugo Jairo Hernández, reported that the rains of the last hours left flooded streets, fallen roofs and some other effects that were reported in the Municipal Presidency.

“The Mixteca is one of the regions most likely to have local-type storms, because the cold front dropped very quickly and due to the high temperatures that have been accumulating, they generate this type of storm,” said the meteorologist from the CEPCO.

He stressed that it rained in 50 municipalities of the Mixteca region, so the effects were very few and these were attended by the municipal authorities of this demarcation.

He argued that the rains were not recorded with the same intensity in all the municipalities, so he asked the population to be aware of the weather reports from Civil Protection, since these can be common at this time of year.

He explained that “the microcells were concentrated in the area of Mariscala, Juxtlahuaca, some sectors that border the State of Guerrero, it was a storm nucleus that affected that region, and it was a lola-type storm, because it brings hail and heavy rain. in addition to electrical activity.

He expressed that this type of activity can take people by surprise, so extreme precautions must be taken.
