Storm Isha Threatens Ireland with Heavy Snow: Met Issues Nationwide Alert

Dublin : Storm Isha threatens Ireland as life comes to a standstill in heavy snow. The Met has issued a nationwide alert for today and tomorrow morning.

A yellow alert is in place for all northern counties ahead of snow. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued in Northern Ireland for the same reason from 6 pm today to 9 am on Monday. Meteorologists say snow and cold will continue and there is no chance of temperature rise.

Forecasters said there was a chance of strong waves along Ireland’s coasts, making travel difficult and strong winds possible.

Rain will continue today. Meanwhile, a very strong storm will arrive from the southwest. It may be fatal in the coastal areas. There will be wind at night as well. Therefore, heavy rains may be widespread.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has reminded motorists to exercise extreme caution today and tomorrow as Cyclone Isha hits. RSA advises to control speed and maintain a safe distance from vehicles in front.

Those following goods vehicles should be especially careful. Water should be kept on the road. Other routes should be sought to avoid accidents. The possibility of trees and branches falling on the road should also be kept in mind.

Remember to use the routes suggested by the local council and gardaí and strictly follow their guidelines. Always use dipped headlights. The RSA also advises motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians to take special care.
