Storm Ida: at least nine dead in New York, the impressive images of the floods

The governors of the states of New York and New Jersey declared a state of emergency overnight from Wednesday to Thursday due to torrential rains from Storm Ida, as US media report at least nine dead in these two states.

Virtually all of New York’s subway lines have been shut down since Wednesday evening as the remnants of Storm Ida, which hit the southern United States, Louisiana three days ago, have caused torrential rains, floods and tornadoes in some northeastern states such as New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the TV station reported CNN.
