The US National Weather Service has warned that Tropical Storm Elsa is advancing rapidly and that heavy rains will end in considerable urban and “small stream” flooding.
According to data from the US National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Elsa became a “post-tropical cyclone” on Friday and continues to discharge heavy rains to the northeast of the United States.
In this regard, Meteorology issued an alert for possible floods warning that as Elsa moves south and the coast of New England, heavy rains could cause considerable flash and urban flooding.
Elsa has maximum sustained winds of 50 to 85 km / h and is located 30 km west of Plymouth, in Massachusetts, indicated the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States in its bulletin. Elsa is forecast to gradually weaken this weekend.
Several New York highways and subway stations were flooded Thursday night amid heavy rains that preceded Elsa’s arrival.
Images of people with water around their waists at a Manhattan subway station circulated on social media, along with videos showing large amounts of water falling directly onto the platforms.
