Being in the middle of the period between seasons, after the Draft and many free agent changes, things are beginning to paint color, although there are still teams to be defined, others are already starting training to select the 53 players that will make up their roster for 2021. With what has moved to this date and making a very daring forecast for next season, I continue to see practically the same favorites to go for the Lombardi trophy.
It is true that teams such as 49ers, Chicago and Rams, among others, have strengthened very well, so a substantial improvement in their performance is expected for this year, however and even with these new weapons, they do not seem to reach the supreme level. With which they will start Kansas, Ravens, Buffalo and of course, the current champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These are teams that were favorites last year and that reached the last stages with excellent teams and that by 2021 they have not only kept most of their stars, but also acquired very dangerous reinforcements; I think that among these four there will certainly be at least two conference finalists, if not the next champion
On the other hand, a team that the experts are betting a lot on is the Dallas Cowboys, I don’t know if they do it taking advantage of the media use that involves a huge hobby or if they really see something to compete with seriously, although we consider that Dallas’ division was the worst in the league last year, you might think that a decent team would be enough to make it to the playoff, however, and speaking of serious competition, we mean trying to win the championship and in that conference National there are huge obstacles such as Tampa, Green Bay, Seattle and even, in its same division an improvement is also expected in Washington, which is probably the favorite to take that pennant. Also, I’ve already said before that I question that Dak Prescott has with which to take them beyond a divisional game, yet the mysterious Cowboys deserve the benefit of the doubt until their facts speak for them.
Another team that finished in the middle of the table and that is a mystery, is the New England Patriots. Bill Belichick has to be determined to show that he can succeed without Tom Brady, right there Cam Newton is going to have a decisive year in his career to show if there is anything left of that super athlete who gave us such spectacular games reaching the Super Bowl with Carolina.
And outside of the teams, it will also be a very interesting year to follow the individual stories, starting with those who are supposedly going out as in the cases of Brady and Big Ben among others, but before that, we also need to know where Aaron Rodgers’ novel is going to end, who has not yet defined his stay with Green Bay.
Among the rookies there will be surprises for better and for worse as always, it is a subject without any way of guessing, we have seen for years how great promises literally thunder when entering the NFL and fifth or sixth round players taking out the breed and becoming stars immediately.
Thus, another of the speculations, which the commissioner Roger Goodell himself has released to the media, is that the stadiums are expected to be fully open and without covid restrictions by the time the season begins. This would be fantastic and we all wish it, because that would mean that the virus has been removed from our lives, at least at the pandemic level.
