Steven Van Gucht sees promising figures about the corona virus. However, he emphasizes that the number of patients on intensive care has yet to decrease.
However, there were a lot less than 200 new hospital admissions. “That is encouraging,” says Van Gucht to Radio 1. “Of course these are the figures for Sunday, so there is a week effect. I expect the figure to increase again in the coming days. However, I do hope that we will fall below this week. the 200 shots will remain. “
“It is very important that the total number of people on intensive care goes down,” emphasizes Van Gucht. “There are still 900 and that puts a heavy burden on the hospital. That has to go further down. That has to be more than halved, well below 400 even,” says the virologist.
“The most important thing is the trend of the figures. This should now gradually go down. Then we can very carefully let go of the measures.”
