Steelseries Introduces Nimbus + Game Controller for Apple Devices – Gaming – News

Steelseries has made a new controller especially for Apple devices. The Nimbus + is a further development of the existing Nimbus, with ‘clickable’ joysticks and a battery that should last longer. A smartphone holder is also included.

The controller has MFi, Apple’s certification which means that the company has tested the controller for latency and convenience with pairing. Furthermore, that means discovering games that the controller supports should be easier and the button mapping can also be adjusted automatically per game. The controller works in conjunction with the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV.

New is the possibility to press the joysticks, so that games can use the so-called l3 and r3 functions. This option was missing with the first Nimbus controller and therefore it had slightly less functionality than controllers for the Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The battery must last fifty hours according to Steelseries. Included is also one phone mount where the phone fits and which can be mounted on the controller again. The accessory will be sold on Steelseries.com from May 26, but Apple must have it immediately available. At the time of writing, the Nimbus + is not yet available on the Dutch Apple site and a euro price is not yet known. In the US, the controller costs according to The Verge $ 70.
