Steam Releases Real Dead Sonic, a Mystery Game for April Fool’s Day – Game Mecca

On the occasion of the first Fool’s Day, Sega released a surprise game using Sonic’s corpse meme.

On April 1, Sega released ‘The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog’ on Steam. The game is a point-and-click visual novel genre that deals with the murder of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mirage Express.

Players put themselves in the shoes of Miles Tales Prower, who begins his first shift as a train attendant and must uncover the truth behind a murder case. In the process, you can meet familiar Sonic series characters such as Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna, and Espio the Chameleon. In addition, mini-games with dot graphics that appear during the process stimulate memories of series fans.

Sega released a short trailer with the game’s release, and the music in the middle of the video turns off and Sonic’s death, which is directed, makes viewers laugh. This is because the scene hints at the ‘Sonic death’ meme, which is sarcastic about the low sales volume of the Sonic series.

Fans were amused by reactions such as ‘They’re really dead’, ‘The development team knows this meme’, and ‘It’s been a while since I’ve felt like Sega’. The game currently has a 95% ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating in Steam user reviews.
