Vladimir Putin experienced being left alone in the lightning rain during this week’s state visit to Tehran, Iran, reports The Guardian.
Video from the meeting shows the Russian president waiting for his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Uncomfortable
Putin appears visibly uncomfortable as he waits for around a minute for Erdogan to enter the room.
This is according to it British newspaper behavior Putin himself usually exhibits towards other heads of state. Putin deliberately keeps heads of state waiting for him during visits to Russia.
Warning: Planning the same strategy as in 2014
In 2014, Putin kept then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel waiting for more than four hours during a state visit to Moscow.
Spill
Both Queen Elizabeth, Barrack Obama and a large number of heads of state have experienced Putin being late for meetings, sometimes several hours, reports The Independent.
Experts speculate whether Putin is doing this as part of a psychological game. In Erdogan’s case, there is talk that the Turkish head of state kept Putin waiting as revenge.
Vengeance
National News senior correspondent Joyce Karam calls the move “sweet revenge” in a post on Twitter.
