After the boom in smuggling of medicines from Syria to Lebanon, which Syrian refugees sold to the Lebanese without going through the Ministry of Health, and after the health complications suffered by some Lebanese citizens after taking this type of medicines, a patrol of the State security arrested in Bekaa, Syria (FF), which dealt with the marketing of smuggled medicines, and the elements of the patrol seized with them about 1,450 boxes of various medicines and drugs inside a camp for displaced persons in the town of Bar Elias in Zahle district.
In a related context, another State Security patrol in a camp for Syrian refugees in the town of Qab Elias in the Zahle district confiscated about 105 boxes of medicines prepared for sale to Lebanese citizens and Syrian refugees in the area.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of the competent judiciary, which took the necessary measures, pending the completion of the investigation to reveal the rest of those involved.
