“The Vienna State Opera is there to be great.” Bogdan Roscic, who will take up his new position as director of the house on July 1, outlined the task of the house under his aegis on Sunday evening in ORF III when presenting his first season. It’s about global excellence and experiences that could only be realized here.

“Everything is talked about. The final word, of course, lies with the State Opera Director, ”Jordan, who joined in from Paris, outlined the future division of labor. A central anchor for him is, among other things, the care of Mozart, since the composer is part of the company’s DNA: “We also want to use it to build a new Mozart ensemble with which we can develop over the years.” Another ensemble decision is the establishment of the opera studio for young singers, for which twelve singers were selected from over 1,000 applications.
Roscic will have a personal premiere next year, as he will attend an opera ball for the first time. “As a passionate non-dancer, life has such beautiful premieres and debuts for you,” the 56-year-old said, amused. In any case, he stands by the opera ball: “I see this as a production by the Vienna State Opera. And it always has to be one thing: first class. ” In order to achieve this, Roscic had previously indicated to the “Kronen Zeitung” that he could imagine both an end to the function of the “Opera Ball Lady” and the era of Richard Lugner as an Opera Ball Zampano.
By the way, friends of music theater in the Roscic era can expect audiovisual broadcasts free of charge from the stage of the Vienna State Opera. The future director had already announced in newspaper interviews that the streaming of productions in Austria would be offered free of charge in the future.
