State of Play (February 2023) finished. How do you rate the show? A collection of announcements and materials

State of Play through the eyes of PPE.pl

Wojtek: I didn’t expect much and… I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, there were plenty of big IPs here (Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League looks good, Resident Evil 4 Remake will be excellent, Street Fighter 6 will provide a great experience), but there is clearly no such surprise here. To be honest, I am most pleased with Baldur’s Gate 3, because we finally know the release date, and at the same time the production will debut on PlayStation 5 and PC. PlayStation Plus for March promises to be great – the set is already impressive, and in fact we have only met a few games.

Matthew: Unfortunately, Sony let me down today. In fact, Resident Evil 4 Remake saved February’s State of Play, because if it wasn’t for him, you could say: “Sony, sit down to the bench, pal!”. The remake just looks great to me and I can’t wait to play Leon again. For now, it looks like RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake will be my favorite refreshed Resident, but I have to wait a month for the final verdict. The rest of the event unfortunately turned out to be pale, although I must admit that the new game from the creators of Batman: Arkham Asylum is starting to look better and better with each material. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will probably provide a more humorous story with more interesting characters than Gotham Knights, but I must admit that the production still smells of Warner’s great failure from the end of 2022 – especially in terms of pure gameplay. We’ll see what comes out.

Behind: We are after the first State of Play this year and I have the impression that Sony is starting this year very reasonably and calmly. The announcements of productions coming to PS VR2 in the coming months were the first fire, we finally got to know the release date of Baldur’s Gate 3, for me personally, Resident Evil 4 Remake could not be missed, but I was hoping for even more meat – and in this aspect, unfortunately, I was disappointed. The Japanese have been heavily promoting the PS Plus subscription for several months, so this type of show was a good opportunity to announce another offer, which, to be honest, is quite decent. Was Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League the highlight of the presentation? Yes and no. After the dud of Gotham Knights, Warner Bros. has to roll up its sleeves and convince many more players to the upcoming production – and it will not be such an easy task. To sum up, one would like much more specifics and high-profile announcements, while Sony is just warming up.
