At the vaccination centers in Bremen and Bremerhaven, everyone over the age of 18 can now sign up for a waiting list for vaccinations with AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson. The health authority announced on Friday. Interested have to www.impfzentrum.bremen.de provide their details including their email address and vaccine preference. As soon as the vaccine is available, an appointment code will be sent that is valid for 72 hours. However, a code is no guarantee that you will actually get an appointment.
No guarantee for a vaccination appointment
With this, the health department wants to ensure that any remaining stocks of the two vaccines are quickly distributed. “It’s just about being able to react quickly,” says Alicia Bernhardt from the health authority. How many doses will be involved cannot currently be estimated. But there are always small remnants.
At AstraZeneca, this mainly depends on the option for the second vaccination: If you are under 60 and have already received a dose of AstraZeneca, you can choose whether the second dose should also be AstraZeneca or Biontech, says Bernhardt. This means that AstraZeneca appointments can always be free. However, regular first vaccinations with AstraZeneca no longer take place in the vaccination center because the vaccine mainly goes to family doctors. According to the authorities, AstraZeneca will be primarily available in Bremen, and Johnson & Johnson in Bremerhaven. At Johnson & Johnson, only one vaccination is necessary for full protection. The first vaccinations should start on Saturday, May 22nd. The authority asks everyone who has already been vaccinated in the meantime to be removed from the waiting list.
