Startup Impulse Region Hannover: Awards 2019 awarded

On Wednesday, March 24th, Sparkasse Hannover and hannoverimpuls announced the winners of the startup competition Start-up-Impuls and awarded them in a virtual event.

With prizes worth more than 100,000 euros, Startup-Impuls is one of the most highly endowed regional start-up competitions in Germany. From pulp from pineapple plants to wind turbines for city centers, 114 innovative business ideas were submitted in three price categories, which also impressed with their international potential. This time, a special marketing prize from Hannover Marketing & Tourismus GmbH worth 5,000 euros was also awarded!

The three winning teams offer sustainable solutions for the international market. The winner, Crafting Future, receives 36,000 euros, the second-placed team from HOMB 21,000 euros and the third-placed team, Flexxter, 11,000 euros.

With Tim Göbel from Tiny Hotel, a man who got off to a flying start on his own was honored in the special “Solo Start” prize. Solo in this case refers to the number of founders – not to the number of employees. The winner’s business concept is funded with 10,000 euros, 2,000 euros each go to Sandy Jäger (FUNTASIEMOBIL) and Stella Kocademirci (feel good).

This year the foundation of eco: fibr was awarded the special prize “University & Science”. The seven-person team wants to re-use plant residues from pineapple plantations in Costa Rica and produce pulp from pineapple plants – a real alternative to wood pulp. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros. In addition, there are individual advice offers worth up to 10,000 euros. The award sponsor is Gehrke Econ Unternehmensberatungsgesellschaft mbH.

All nominated teams or solo starters were also rewarded with a professional image clip for their company and extensive pitch training with a total value of 1,500 euros each.

Because of the particular challenges posed by the pandemic, Hannover Marketing & Tourismus GmbH wants to support the courage to start a business, especially in the B2C segment, and for the first time has awarded a special marketing prize worth around 5,000 euros, with marketing measures and a four-week pop-up Store should be financed. The winner is Nadja Anna Siever, who designs and sells products made from old horse blankets with RE-qui – a perfectly fitting new figurehead for the Hanover horse region.
