Starting from next month, Singapore will allow foreigners to be vaccinated

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Singapore starting next month, allowing foreigners who have been injected to enter corona vaccine. The visitors must show a digital vaccine passport and also a Covid-19 free certificate.

Singapore’s aviation regulators said they would receive the International Air Transport Association (IATA) mobile travel ticket for pre-departure checks.

Travelers can get permission to fly to and enter Singapore by presenting a smartphone app with their data from an accredited laboratory.

The digital ticket was successfully tested by Singapore Airlines. More than 20 airlines, including Emirates, Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines, also tested the tickets.

“The success of our joint efforts will make IATA’s partnership with the Singapore government a model for others to follow,” said IATA Director General Willie Walsh, Monday (5/4) as quoted from Reuters.

Singapore, a country with relatively few coronavirus cases, has been at the forefront of developing and using technology during the Covid-19 pandemic.

They also want to be one of the first countries to open up to international events.

The airline hopes that more countries will approve digital tickets on the app to allow travel to proceed more quickly.

Digital tickets are also believed to avoid complications and delays at airports that require a lot of document checks.

Currently, travelers who want to go to Singapore must take a Covid-19 swab test before departure with a time limit of 72 hours. The test results must be presented at check-in at the airport and upon arrival.

Singapore has indeed planned to loosen entry restrictions for foreigners who have been injected with the corona vaccine. Singapore itself started a national Covid-19 vaccination program at the end of last year.
