Paris (dpa) – Regardless of the Corona crisis, the Michelin Guide gastronomy guide will announce on Monday (12 noon) in Paris which top French restaurants can be decorated with one, two or three stars.

Because of the Corona restrictions, there will be no gala event with an audience. The industry event is planned on the Eiffel Tower and will be broadcast via social networks.

The head of the gourmet bible, Gwendal Poullennec, declared that the “fighting spirit, courage and talent” of top chefs should be emphasized. Cafes and restaurants are currently closed in France due to the Corona crisis, some offer a pick-up service. Despite state aid, many innkeepers are in economic distress, according to industry information.

29 top restaurants in France and Monaco have the top three-star rating. This exclusive club is reportedly not under threat of downgrades this time around. Only last year Michelin withdrew its third star from the “Auberge du Pont de Collonges” of the chef Paul Bocuse, who died in 2018, and thus caused quite a stir. Since then the house has only had two stars.
