There was a difference of two weeks of preparation between the two, and that can probably explain some things. In the first two preparation matches for Starligue teams, Montpellier won twice in front of Chartres, 28 to 17 Wednesday and 35 to 27 last night.
In matches played each time over four quarters, Patrice Canayer’s men have generally mastered their subject, while the MHB arrived at the end of its sixth week of preparation. The Euréliens, for their part, have two fewer and Toni Gerona has taken care to spare certain elements not yet 100%.
The next step in the Montpellier preparation is a meeting against Limoges next week as Chartres will continue to gain momentum on Tremblay’s side.
