Starfield Community Patch Modders Face Challenges Fixing Game Bugs as Modding Support Appears Broken

Starfield was Bethesda’s biggest release to date, and it was great to know that the game would have the least amount of bugs of any of the studio’s other RPGs. However, it seems that not everything is so simple.

A group of modders working on a project known as the Starfield Community Patch, or SCP, have taken it upon themselves to fix all the obvious problems and bugs in the game. However in an interview They told Eurogamer that modding in the game is also broken.

One of the founders of SCP, Timothy Halgary Baldrige, said:

A lot of things are really broken compared to other games.

The team has decided to eliminate all bugs and issues that prevent players from enjoying Starfield. Their only goal is to continually improve the game. However, Bethesda’s design appears to be preventing the team from achieving this goal.

Halgari added that the team was able to make rapid progress so easily only because they “know what to do.”

The modder explains that Starfield modding support is something of a secondary concern for Bethesda. He also claims that until official tools for the game are released, the modding community for the game will not develop.

The team claims that Bethesda is fully capable of resolving the over 400 issues that have accumulated in SCP, but their support and feedback leaves much to be desired, creating obstacles for these dedicated people.

Interestingly, various mods have already been released for the game. They add DLSS 3, a visual overhaul, and seamless space travel. So while the game has already built a strong community, if the team’s word is anything to go by, that may not last long.

On the plus side, Bethesda is working on official support for mods, so this criticism will eventually be addressed. Todd Howard has stated that mod support will arrive next year, along with additional content for the role-playing game.
