Stamps will be more than 5 percent more expensive next year | NOW

PostNL will increase the price of a stamp by 5.5 percent from 1 January 2021, from 91 to 96 cents. That makes it company Monday announced. The price for sending a package remains unchanged.

The higher stamp price is necessary to cope with the ever decreasing number of postal items. According to PostNL, the increase is necessary in order to be able to continue to provide good service to customers, to be a good employer and to remain financially healthy.

In addition to an increase in the price of a stamp, the rate for postage will also increase, from 85 to 90 cents. The basic rate for letters sent abroad will also increase by 5 cents and will be 1.55 euros next year.

Christmas stamps cost 86 cents this year. The stamps will be available from November 16 and, just like last year, are 5 cents cheaper than a regular stamp.

The price for sending parcels will not be increased. For example, sending a regular package will also cost 7.25 euros next year. The price for registered parcels will go up by 25 cents.

With the new rates, PostNL remains within the bandwidth set by the market regulator, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).
