Starting an exclusive season at the Grand National Theatre, the company will offer (on Saturday, March 18) two performances of “Swan Lake”, a classic work composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1877. Its revival at the Mariinsky Theater (1895) led to an incredible success that spread to several countries with the innovative conception of the choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

The story of the most popular ballet on the planet tells the drama of “Odette”, the beautiful princess who becomes a white swan during the day by the spell of the evil “Von Rothbart”, a curse that will only be broken when she finds true love, feeling sublime that will come into her life with the prince “Sigfried”.

To continue enjoying high-quality artistic shows with the family, the Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet will present on Sunday, March 19, a double performance of “Sleeping Beauty”, a story by Charles Perrault with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. It tells the story of the king “Florestán” and his wife, who invite three kind fairies as godmothers for the baptism of his daughter, princess “Aurora”.

During the delivery of gifts and privileges, the witch “Carabosse” will appear to cast a curse, offended because she was not invited to the ceremony. “One day the princess will prick her finger with a spinning wheel needle and she will die,” predicted the evil sorceress. Fortunately, the “Lilac Fairy” had not yet expressed her wish and, to avoid a tragedy, declares that “Aurora will only fall into a deep sleep for a hundred years until a prince comes and wakes her with a kiss.”

It should be noted that tickets to enjoy the best of classical ballet in the first artistic and cultural stage of the country are for sale on the Joinnus platform.
