SSPC announces permanent closure of Puente Grande federal prison

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) announced the permanent closure of the federal prison in Puente Grande, Jalisco.

Through the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the SSPC acknowledged that it is necessary to generate actions for modernization and reengineering in penitentiary matters, which is why it decided to disincorporate the Federal Center for Social Readaptation number 2 “West” from the penitentiary system.

Consequently, the inmates who remain in the prison will be relocated to the other federal centers for social rehabilitation in the country.

“The rights of workers attached to the Federal Center for Social Readaptation number 2” Occidente “will be respected according to the law, so they will be relocated to other federal penitentiary centers determined by the Commissioner for Prevention and Social Readaptation, according to the needs of the Institution’s service ”, said the agency.

In the announcement, it was determined that the Commissioner for Prevention and Social Readaptation, through the General Directorate of Prevention and Social Readaptation Administration, will be in charge of carrying out the necessary actions for the final destination of “movable property belonging to the Federal Center for Social Readaptation number 2 “Occidente”, making use of the material, financial and human resources that are necessary for this purpose.

“The Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection will determine in due course the final destination of the real estate that occupies the Federal Center for Social Readaptation number 2 ‘Occidente’,” he says.
