UEFA appointed Carlos del Cerro Grande from Spain as referee of the match. He will be assisted by Pau Cebrián Devís and Roberto Alonso Fernández. The technical referee will be Guillermo Cuadra Fernández, and Alejandro Hernández Hernández and Delajod Willy from France will sit in front of VAR monitors.
Carlos del Cerro Grande is one of the most experienced Spanish referees who has led 200 La Liga games. In addition, the 45-year-old can boast 16 matches of the Champions League and 12 of the Europa League. At the past EURO, Grande hosted two group stage matches and that ended his adventure in the tournament as head referee. In the first match (France – Germany), he did not notice the offense against Mbappe and did not dictate “eleven”, and in the Croatia – Czech Republic match, he was saved by VAR and after Grande’s intervention, he pointed to a penalty kick. Despite this, Carlos del Cerro Grande remained in the championship and acted as technical referee. He made it all the way to the final, where he supported Björn Kuipers in the Italy-England match.
It is worth noting that the referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández, who is responsible for VAR in the Napoli – Legia game, has a lot of experience. At EURO 2020, he was a VAR referee in as many as 10 matches and he enjoys great trust among UEFA authorities.
