Recreated scenes

One teacher described the 15-year-old series as “totally inappropriate” for elementary school children.

According to Gareth Nichols, of Sir Francis Hill Elementary School in Lincoln, “a small group of six-year-old students” discussed the series and “recreated some of the scenes.”

He says that the teacher “immediately contacted the parents to make them aware of what the children were doing”.

– The teacher also recommended the parents to check the settings on their equipment, since the students might gain access and watch the series without the parents knowing about it, Nichols said.

Also at Welton Primary School in Brough, East Yorkshire, it has been realized that school children aged seven to eleven have watched “Squid Game”. Warnings have also been sent to parents.

– Inappropriate

The series, which in record time has become Netflix’s most watched TV series in 90 countries, has an age limit of 15 years and older and has content that includes sex, violence and suicide.

The action involves 456 participants fighting for a giant cash prize by playing classic, South Korean children’s games, such as “red light”, tug of war and marbles. If you fail to perform one of the toys, you will be shot and killed.

“Although some of the ‘toys’ are portrayed as adaptations of traditional children’s toys, the violent consequences are inappropriate for younger viewers, and I fully support the 15-year age limit that has been set,” said Nichols.

He reiterates the call that parents should check the child lock on their streaming services, to prevent their children from being exposed to such content.
