Tettnang – The “Stars des Sports” campaign has been around for a long time in Germany – according to a press release from the Sportkreis Bodensee. For the first time, the clubs in the Bodensee sports district have the chance to win a prize for their voluntary work.
“We are very grateful to Volksbank Friedrichshafen-Tettnang for enabling sports clubs in our region to take part in the competition,” explains Eveline Leber. “Especially in these difficult times, it is important for the clubs to be able to present their commitment – and in the best case to be rewarded for it,” added the sports district president. The Volksbank will offer up to three cash prizes of 1,500 euros each.
When Eveline Leber turned to the Volksbank, her request – so the sports group continued – immediately met with open ears. “The ‘Stars of Sports’ fit perfectly with our social commitment, with which we have been underlining our solidarity with local clubs for decades,” says CEO Jürgen Strohmaier.
The competition:
“Stars des Sports is a nationwide competition organized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken in Germany. The competition honors the socio-politically effective range of services offered by sports clubs and their special voluntary commitment.
It honors activities and projects in the areas of education & qualification, voluntary work, families, health and prevention, equality, integration & inclusion, children & young people, climate, nature and environmental protection, achievement motivation, senior citizens and club management. But sports clubs whose commitment does not match any of these examples can also apply.
At the local level, the best projects are awarded the “Big Star of Sports” in bronze with 1,500 euros. The bronze winner fights for the silver star at the state level. The best regional winner will then be awarded the “Big Star of Sports” in gold at the federal level, which brings 10,000 euros for the club’s treasury.
The application:
The application runs online via the homepage www.sterne-des-sports.de. The application deadline is June 30th. “Films always go down very well,” says Volksbank Marketing Stefan Gessler with a tip to increase the chances of success. He sees the participation of Volksbank Friedrichshafen-Tettnang as sporty. “When our clubs take part, we are of course also happy when they win.” He does not expect to make the leap at state or federal level at the first attempt. “But at some point we hope that an association from our region will be invited to Berlin by the Federal President.”
