“Sporting Director Bosse Andersson Talks Djurgården’s Difficult Start to Allsvenskan & Potential Summer Signings”

THE HOISTING. Djurgården suffered another loss against BK Häcken.

Now the sporting director Bosse Andersson speaks out about the difficult start to the Allsvenskan, the lousy results away from home, how Djurgården will lift from the lack of form – and opens to signing this summer.

– We have opportunities to do things there, he says.

Djurgården suffered its second loss in a row and third match without a win in the Allsvenskan. BK Häcken overcame Djurgården and won 4–1 at Bravida arena on Wednesday evening.

After the match, Sportbladet had a chat with the sporting director Bosse Andersson, who said that the team’s start in the Allsvenskan is a big disappointment. He also sees the game away from home.

– I think we play a good first half against Häcken. A good football game and get a goal with us. Then you think that in the second half we should go out and take advantage of the fact that we are leading. We don’t want counterattacks against us when we are leading 1-0. When Häcken gets counterattacks, they are awfully strong, we know that.

– Then they get a class goal that means they equalize and after that we are not in the match. The fence takes over completely and it runs away to 4–1. We play an incredibly bad second half, says Andersson.

If you give your view on your introduction to the Allsvenskan?

– We have played six games and taken one point away from home, that is far too little in four games. We have played two games at home and we have won them, then our game away from home has been under all criticism.

– Against Häcken, they are perhaps better than us, but against both Halmstad and Degerfors we perform very poorly and do not get a point.

Do you think the players have it mentally?

– There are probably many reasons. We don’t have any punches, we can state that. We have high expectations of ourselves and have not lived up to expectations. Now it grins at us and it bounces wrong. We are in a tough period now, but there is only one way out. It’s that we work hard together with coaches, leaders and everything.

– We will continue to work on and we have a very important match on Monday against Kalmar which we must win.

That several of the established players have not delivered so far, what do you say about that?

– Of course, I think we all feel that we have a good team when everyone is at their best. But now we are not at the level that neither we, the supporters, want to be at nor expect us to be at. We are disappointed.

You were there and talked to the supporters, what did you say?

– We understand that they are disappointed, of course. They have come a long way. We had a great season last year and obviously the supporters are disappointed when they go around and see us and we lose football games.

– That we would get beaten in football matches this year, I knew that. But the fact that we have taken one point in four away games is disappointing.

How do you see the transfer window coming up this summer?

– We have great confidence in this squad and know what all the players are capable of. Then we know that things always tend to happen in a transfer window in the summer. We absolutely have opportunities to do things this summer, but it is too early to evaluate what we will do after six rounds of the Allsvenskan. We do this together.

– Regardless of whether things have gone well or badly for us, things have always happened during the summer.
