Spend 10 years with the Sun in 1 hour with this incredible time-lapse video

NASA gives us a nice gift: an impressive timelapse of Soleil allowing us to give a new insight into the activity of our star.

An almost complete solar cycle

Do not be too long !

The ???? Spider-Man ???? complete set 8 movies and Blu-Ray 4K is available to order!

This video was made thanks to SDO, the Solar Dynamics Observatory which has been in space for ten years. For a decade, he has been staring at the Sun which he photographs every 0.75 seconds. In total, since June 2010, these are 425 million photos, or 20 million gigabits of data, which were captured on the Sun.

For the anniversary of the SDO, NASA has just unveiled a beautiful time lapse video covering the last 10 years of observation in the extreme ultraviolet allowing you to see the solar corona.

The average duration of a solar cycle is 11 years, which means that thanks to this video we are witnessing an almost complete cycle of our star.

The press release says that the video allows us to show “the increase and decrease in activity that occurs as part of the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle and notable events, such as the passage of planets and eruptions“.

You may also notice in this 61-minute video that the Sun can sometimes center and center itself. This corresponds to the recalibration of the SDO instruments. For darker images, they can be explained by the passage of the Earth and the Moon between the SDO and the star.

Finally, note thatin 2016, a breakdown occurred and was resolved a week later. This incident is visible in the video.

We leave you discover this incredible show punctuated by music Solar Observer composed by Lars Leonhard.
