sport">After a failed record attempt on Wednesday, the 32-year-old skater managed to break the ‘magic’ limit of 100 kilometers per hour a day later. “I really flew over the ice,” Nuis said afterwards. “Every little bump felt like a threshold. Sometimes I even really came off the ice and had to correct. Skating that fast is technically challenging and real precision work. So today’s tactic was to skate as far into the windcatcher as possible, so that I had enough energy left to accelerate from 92 to over 100 kilometers per hour. It was very heavy. This is really the maximum that is possible on skating.”
