Specialists’ warning about Bucharest. These are the areas most exposed to the earthquake

Seismologist Gheorghe Mărmureanu said that everything depends on the area where they are produced earthquakethem and their intensity.

“The old buildings in the Capital are in the high risk area for a high-intensity earthquake,” he added.

An analysis plan of the Bucharest Municipality Committee for Emergency Situations shows that a strong earthquake would create a disaster of proportions in the Capital. In the nighttime earthquake scenario, more than 450,000 people may be in buildings that can exceed the 3rd degree of damage, which are buildings built before 1977.

According to the honorary director of INFP, the next big earthquake would be over 100 years old.

The largest earthquake this year occurred on January 16, 2022 and had a magnitude of 4.4, while last year was recorded on May 26 an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7.

The tectonic movement was also felt in Bucharest.
