How satisfied are you with how the interplay is working out with the new teammates?
–
In the first match, I showed that I can go for balloons and maybe knock them down. Behind me comes the second wave from the ambush. I can sense when to go against an opponent and when to go behind them. I think if we tweak it some more it will be a big weapon.

And what do you think about the fact that Sparta hired a foreign coach?
–
I have experience with trainers from abroad. I experienced two at Lokomotiv, so it’s not a big unknown for me. I’m used to something, their color. I say for myself that it is only good when a Czech club decided to hire a foreign coach like this.

What impression did your first foreign stint at Lokomotiv Moscow make on you?
–
It was all more professional. After the match, training was on a different level. The training facility was built there, it was at a great level. But beware, when I saw how much work was done in the Spartan center in Strahov, I stared. It must have cost a lot of people a lot of time to build it so beautifully. No one here has such a background, we have all the comforts.

When you headed to Sparta, did you remember the fight for the King of Shooters crown with Adam Hložek?
–
At that time I felt it a lot until before the last lap. Especially when the guys came up to me and said that Adam had scored four goals. I was in death and he said that I couldn’t escape it. It turned out well in the end, we shared the first place. It was good that Adam got well.

You won’t be able to play with the huge talent of Czech football at Letná anymore. Are you sorry?
–
He did a lot for Sparta, he left a mark here. It is certainly great for his development that he moved to Germany. Of course, if I’m in Sparta now and we want to be successful, that is, we want to play at the highest levels, he could help us to do that. In this respect, it’s a shame that he didn’t stay. But as I said, it’s great for his development that he went to Leverkusen.

You are currently at a training camp in Austria, where you are getting in shape. How do you relax during your free time?
–
Mainly rest, I try to sleep. And I also watch Czech series and movies. I couldn’t do it in Moscow, so I’m catching up. Last time I played Pelíšky, I never get tired of it

When you are at home in the Czech Republic, is it still true that your hobby is raising chickens?
–
I work with farm animals, I got hooked on it when I was little. Genes awakened. My wife supports me, as does my family. We have the facilities, I can afford to keep animals. I come home from football, I’m tired, but I can spend over an hour with the animals, so I can clear my head.

Have any of the players shown interest in the eggs yet?
–
So far, the guys have just nailed it. I think once they taste them, they’ll be hooked. The cook makes excellent omelettes for us in Strahova, I had them for a fortnight. But home-grown eggs are home-grown eggs. (Laughs)
