Spain humiliates Germany 6-0 and reaches the Nations League final round | NOW

Spain convincingly reached the final round of the Nations League on Tuesday. The team of national coach Luis Enrique secured a place in the last four by humiliating Germany with no less than 6-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Ferrán Torres.

Spain looked for the attack in Seville from the first whistle and that resulted in the opening goal of Álvaro Morata after seventeen minutes. The Juventus striker headed home from a corner.

After a second goal from Morata was disallowed for offside, Torres managed to double the margin after more than half an hour of play. The Manchester City attacker shot the ball from the rebound hard into the left corner after a header from Dani Olmo hit the crossbar.

In the final phase of the first half, Rodri took care of the third goal by making a beautiful header from a corner. With that, the Spaniards gave the Germans the fastest 3-0 deficit since 2004. Then ‘Die Mannschaft’ was already 3-0 behind after 36 minutes in a practice match against Romania (5-1 loss).

Spain had no mercy with the weak Germany, with PSV defender Philipp Max playing the entire match, and after the break went looking for more hits. That resulted in Torres’s 4-0 ten minutes after the interruption. This time he simply placed the ball in the empty goal after good preparatory work by José Gaya.

Ramos falls out injured

Just twenty minutes before the end, Torres completed his hat trick. After the twenty-year-old talent had previously missed a number of opportunities, he curled the ball nicely into the right corner from the edge of the penalty area in the 71st minute. In the final phase, substitute Mikel Oyarzabal determined the final score with a ticker.

A blemish on the resounding victory was Sergio Ramos’ injury. The European record international grabbed his hamstring just before half time and went to the side injured.

Thanks to the victory, Spain ends in group 4 of Division A on eleven points. The lead over number two Germany is two points. The Nations League Final Four will not be completed until October 6-10, 2021.

It is still unclear which country will be relegated from group 4, as the game between Switzerland and Ukraine was postponed. The selection of Ukraine had to be quarantined by order of the health authorities in Lucerne due to a number of corona infections. The Swiss are on three points and the Ukrainians on six points.
