SpaceX puts additional GPS satellite in the atmosphere for the Space Force

Another day, a new SpaceX launch, it seems.

Because SpaceX has supplied a GPS III satellite for one of its largest customers, the US Space Force. It is the second satellite to be delivered by SpaceX to the US military. The first took off in June and was the third GPS III satellite put into orbit by SpaceX. This is the fourth and should feature improved GPS technology for the US.

SpaceX used a new Falcon 9 launch and a recovered launch vehicle. It landed on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. The company also confirmed that the payload has been placed in correct orbit and is now on its way to the point where the satellite will be released.

The missile took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and it was the second attempt to launch this specific payload. In early September, something went wrong with two engines, causing the system to perform an emergency stop two seconds before departure.

SpaceX has solved that problem. A lost piece of tape would have caused the emergency stop. That’s a very minor problem, but engineers have re-evaluated part of the manufacturing process for it.

This also jeopardized the launch of the Crew-1 launch for NASA. In addition, three NASA astronauts and a JAXA astronaut will depart for the ISS. It is the first official manned mission to the ISS for SpaceX. It will now continue on November.
