Space junk could give Earth Saturn-like rings, says professor

With the growing interest in space and the ensuing space exploration, many are those who have realized that the Earth is being surrounded by space junk. Specifically, one professor has claimed that the planet is even forming rings similar to Saturn’s.

However, those on Earth are made up of debris.

the problem of space junk it is nothing new and there are even companies trying to develop solutions for its elimination. Even so, it is complicated to deal with it, due to the number of satellites and other objects that are sent into space for exploration, in order to amplify knowledge. More than that, spacecraft, probes and even tourists who intend to send themselves into space are also a threat to the space environment.

The scenario is so worrisome that a professor of the University of Utah predicts that Earth may soon begin to resemble Saturn.

Earth is on the way to having her own rings. They will just be made of garbage.

said Jake Abbott to The Salt Lake Tribune.

According to the European Space Agency, there are an estimated 170 million debris over a millimeter wide in orbit. As revealed, this space junk has already endangered the security of the International Space Station, as well as that of satellites and other space objects that are still active.

Because of this, scientists have been relentlessly looking for ways to eliminate or transform this space junk, ensuring that it does not harm current and future space missions.
