“South Bohemia’s Season Ends with Defeat against Liberec: Coach Zápotočný Speaks Out”

The season is over for South Bohemia. “I came to Liberec with my heart, but they did not welcome me here, they beat us 4:0. The match is very difficult for me to evaluate, because Liberec ran over us. Football is not figure skating and it is not played for beauty. Liberec was more emphatic and effective in the goal and deservedly won,” acknowledged Zápotočný.

In the first half, Kozák erased Liberec’s deficit from the first clash. After the break, Frýdek scored with Tupta. Dynamo scored the last goal of the season from Olatunji’s kick.

“Liberec was more emphatic in the limelight. I was shouting quite a lot at half time because we were naive in our box, we were letting the opposition hit the ball. Janáček caught a good five or six tutus for us today. We were very naive offensively and we didn’t deserve to score a goal,” assessed the 42-year-old Zápotočný.

“Our season is coming to an end, but I evaluate the first half of the year positively because we held our own. We got into a group environment, which I take as a small miracle. Now I’m looking forward to the summer, when Mára Niklo and I will prepare a team according to our ideas,” admitted Zápotočný, who took over České Budějovice with his partner in November of last year after the sacked Jozef Weber.

However, he will soon return to Liberec at the beginning of June, when the team of Liberec legends assembled by three-time champion Tomáš Janů will face the Real Top Praha team with actor and Liberec patriot Ladislav Hample at U Nisa.

“I already talked about it with Pady (Janů) before the match. I’m glad to be a part of it because it’s always nice to meet the legends of Liberec football. I love the city of Liberec and we will definitely enjoy it here,” concluded Zápotočný.
