South African who survived the 1918 Spanish flu dies at the age of 116

A South African who survived the Spanish flu of 1918 has now died in his 116th year. According to his family, he has become one of the oldest people in the world. Fredie Blom was born on May 8, 1904 and he owes his blessed age to “God’s grace”, he himself told AFP news agency earlier this year.
