American soul singer Betty Wright passed away. Her niece announced this on Twitter. It is not known where she died. Wright was 66.
Born as Bessie Regina Norris, Wright is best known for classics such as Tonight is the Night, Where is the Love and her biggest hit Clean Up Woman.
She started her career in her family’s gospel group in Miami, At the age of 14 her first solo album was released. With the hit Girls can’t do what the Guys do she entered the top 40 for the first time in 1968. She had her biggest hits in the early 70s. In 1988 she still had success with the song No Pain, No Gain.
