SOS Santé doubles vaccinations this weekend

Good news for the inhabitants of the area: the SOS Santé hospital in Saint-Avold will increase its vaccination slots this weekend to increase to 400 vaccinations on Saturday March 6, and 400 on Sunday March 7, i.e. 462 additional doses over the two days. These new slots were to open on Thursday. Note that appointments are always made online on Doctolib.fr.

“The ARS asked us to step up the vaccination. Significantly new doses have arrived in Moselle. It’s positive, but it’s quite complex to put in place from a logistical point of view, ”said Denis Garcia, director of the Saint-Avold hospital.

Once again, the establishment was able to count on its staff to respond. “For months, they have been on the bridge seven days a week.” This weekend, the hospital board room will also be requisitioned for these additional vaccinations.

A lasting increase?

Usually, the Naborian vaccination center manages to inject 200 daily doses (a little less on Sundays), either with Pfizer or with Moderna. Eight people are mobilized there: it was necessary to find three more to absorb the increase in vaccinations during these two days. SOS Santé does not yet know if this increase will continue beyond the weekend. “We will know more in a few days”, assures Denis Garcia.

The following are still affected by vaccination: people over 75, those younger but suffering from co-morbidities, patients undergoing chemotherapy or dialysis as well as hospital staff over 50, as well as healthcare professionals. person or medical transport.

Decreasing incidence rate

More good news: “The incidence rate is dropping. We are at 287 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is down twenty points from last week. Despite everything, it remains high and the virus is still circulating, ”adds the director of the hospital.

This Thursday, March 4, 37 Covid patients were still hospitalized at SOS Santé, including thirteen in critical care. And the variants are still very present: 62% of patients have South African or Brazilian variants and 7% speak English. “We remain vigilant: other Moselle establishments are in tension, in particular in Metz and Thionville. “
