‘Sony unveils renewal of PS Plus subscription service possibly next week’ – Gaming – News

Sony could reveal the renewal of its PlayStation Plus subscription service in the coming week. The service would consist of three levels, offering multiplayer services, a catalog of games and game streaming.

Which reports Bloomberg’s gaming journalist Jason Schreier, citing sources familiar with the case. They go on to say that when the service is launched, the service will have a selection of games that would also include “hits from recent years.” The service is codenamed Spartacus.

The cheapest level of the service, Essential, is very similar to the current PlayStation Plus. It provides access to Sony’s online services and gives away free games every month, which are playable as long as users ‘claim’ them at the time and have an active PS Plus subscription.

One level higher would be Extra. This is best compared to Xbox Game Pass. It offers access to a catalog of some 300 games. According to Venturebeat journalist Jeff Grubb covers “just about every game that has ever been released as a free title on PlayStation Plus”, but upcoming, triple-AFirst-party games like God of War Ragnarök shouldn’t be expected anytime soon. The higher subscription tiers also include everything lower tiers include.

The most expensive variant is Premium. With its cloud streaming, this is most similar to the current PlayStation Now. In addition, this variant would provide access to classic games from the libraries of the PS1, PS2, PS3 and the PSP.

The three tiers would cost $10, 13, and $16, respectively. This puts the service close to Xbox Game Pass and its Ultimate variant, which cost $9.99 and $14.99 respectively. Currently PS Plus costs $9.99 and PS Now also $9.99, with no way to combine them.
