Sony to release colored PlayStation 5 side panels in 2022 – Gaming – News

Sony is going to release colored side panels for the PlayStation 5. The first batch will appear next year, in the colors black, red, pink, purple and blue. Before this Sony only sold white faceplates. However, several unofficial colored panels have been for sale for some time.

The black and red side panels will be sold from January 2022. The remaining three suits should appear sometime in the first half of 2022. From the list of participating countries who names the company, it appears that the panels will not initially be available in the Netherlands and Belgium. Sony does say that the side panels should be available in more countries “during the year”. It has not been disclosed how much the panels will cost. The side panels will be available for both the discless Digital Edition and the regular version of the console.

In the past, Sony has ordered several makers of unofficial side panels to stop. At the time of the release of the PlayStation 5 threatened Sony sue the company CMP Shells for selling console faceplates without permission. The company DBrand announced this year ‘temporarily’ stop making side panels after a similar cease and desistletter from Sony. CMP Shells is now active again under the name Trezn and also DBrand still selling PS5 panels, although the company has modified the design. Last month does Sony patented the design of the PS5 panels.

New DualSense colors will also be available in January. The controllers were previously released in black and red, and now pink, purple and blue are added.
