What Sony is planning for the future in terms of virtual reality remains to be seen. However, the manufacturer has shown a new prototype with 8K resolution that could be the next goal for the company.
Sony’s investment in virtual reality is a fairly odd story. The manufacturer has shown that you can offer good experiences with Playstation VR. However, no newer variant has yet been introduced, it is believed that the Playstation 5 is over a year old.
However, Sony has shown that the VR investment is something that the company is interested in maintaining. Now we’ve got to see what one expects the VR headsets of the future to offer.
The video above is for a prototype from Sony’s development unit. This is not necessarily something we will see in the PSVR of the future. On the other hand, it shows that the company has a continued interest in VR and the development is a part that continues to receive good financial support.
Sony has previously been rumored to be preparing for the launch of a challenger for the Xbox Game Pass. If this turned out to be true along with a virtual reality headset, one would not only tackle Microsoft and Xbox but also Facebook and Oculus. However, the video above is just a video showing what Sony can do. Not necessarily where the company actually plans to do.
