Sony Provides Clarification on Removal of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Trailer Due to Expired Music License

Earlier today, it was reported that Sony had hidden the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake trailer from its YouTube channel and removed the original announcements that were made on Twitter during the PlayStation 2021 presentation, leading some to believe the game was cancelled. .

Now Sony has provided some clarification on the reasoning behind the decision in a statement to Kotaku, confirming that the teaser trailer was removed due to an expired music license.

“As part of our normal course of business, we exclude licensed music assets when licenses expire,” the statement said.

The only music featured in the promotional trailer for the KOTOR remake was the Star Wars theme song, so it appears the removal was due to copyright issues with Disney.

It’s currently unclear when the trailer might be reinstated on the channel, and at the time of writing, Aspyr or Embracer Group have not received official word on whether the game is still in active development.
