One or the other player took his breath away: The first company logo of an external developer studio that Sony showed when presenting games for Playstation 5 was that of Rockstar Games. Should the announcement of GTA 6 possibly follow? To make a long story short: No.

Instead, one in the second half of 2021 “expanded and improved” Version of GTA 5 for the Playstation 5 will appear. It is unclear whether the technically polished version will also appear for other platforms – but we are betting on an exclusive deal between Rockstar Games and Sony. It includes the campaign and the multiplayer mode GTA Online. The latter should also be able to download the PS5 as a standalone version free of charge.
On the one hand, that’s nice because GTA Online is really good and enormously popular. On the other hand, it should be clear to every player that the companies will still earn a lot of money because the sales are made via microtransactions.
After all, all players who use GTA Online via Playstation 4 will now receive one million dollars of the in-game currency per month until GTA5 is released for the PS5.
From this, Sony has presented a number of upcoming games, but revealed little details. The highlight at the very end was the expected successor to Horizon Zero Dawn, which is called Horizon 2 Forbidden West and is being produced at Guerilla Games in the Netherlands.
The main character Aloy is in America in a distant future. In addition to mechanical engineering, huge, mysterious storms seem to play a major role. The graphics presented looked much more complex than those from the first part. Sony has not announced an release date.
Capcom presented two new titles. One is the expected horror game Resident Evil 8, which makes an extremely dark impression. According to older rumors, it’s about witches, the trailer has more or less confirmed this without being specific. The release is planned for 2021, almost certainly on other platforms.
Capcom’s second announcement is a game called Pragmata, set to be released in 2022. The trailer shows a kind of astronaut in city streets, a girl and a kind of cat. The whole thing reminded us very much of games by Hideo Kojima, but he is not involved.
Another new announcement from Sony is Ratchet & Clank – Rift Apart. Here the team has shown a lot of gameplay, and that made them want more. An important element is apparently the almost instant jump through portals into other worlds. In addition, much of the environment appears to be destructible.
The development studio Arkane belonging to Bethesda has presented a new title called Deathloop with an interesting basic idea. Apparently, in the action title, two assassins in a kind of time loop are engaged in a never-ending battle for death and life. They use not only weapons, but also superpowers. The style of the program is reminiscent of the Dishonored series, which is also produced by Arkane, but everything looks much more colorful.
Further announcements, for which there is little information so far: Demon’s Souls is launching a technically improved new edition for the Playstation 5 – currently without an appointment. Bluepoint Games is responsible for the production, not From Software.
The Sony developer Insomniac Games not only works on the new Ratchet & Clank, but also on Spider-Man 2, which is to be released with the subtitle Miles Morales on an undisclosed date. As expected, the studio Polyphony Digital, which also belongs to Sony, has presented scenes from the racing game Gran Turismo 7, which, among other things, should contain a new career mode.
The developer studio Tango Gameworks has introduced a new action game called Ghostwire Tokyo, which is reminiscent of Blade Runner and in which you obviously fight against ghosts in the Japanese capital. And IO Interactive is working on Hitman 3, which should be launched on the market with the subtitle Death Awaits in early 2021, and has Agent 47 murdered in a high-rise building in Dubai, among other places.
