Most PlayStation fans are currently looking forward to the presentation of the PS5
there, but something is also happening away from the upcoming top console. As of Friday (February 14th), there is a new back button extension for the Dual Shock-4-controller

Programmable additional buttons

The attachment is attached to the bottom of the controller and offers additional buttons on the back of the controller. According to Sony, there are no restrictions on comfort. The programmable additional keys should enable even more precise, faster and more flexible action in multiplayer games.

The most important features at a glance:

  • The two buttons on the back of the controller can be assigned up to 16 different functions, for example with the actions of the triangle, circle, R1 or R2 button. In addition, an OLED display is installed on the top, which shows real-time information about the button assignment.

  • The two buttons can be re-programmed ad hoc by a separate button, so that players are flexibly armed for any situation. Three occupancy profiles can be saved. The adapter also offers a 3.5 mm jack connection for wired headsets.

  • The attachment was developed by Sony in-house and, according to the Japanese, works with all popular PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games.

price

Sony is charging 40 euros for the new back button extension. It is almost as expensive as the Dualshock 4 itself. The investment should still be worthwhile for ambitious gamers.
