Sony confirms Nixxes has been acquired to bring PlayStation games to PC – Gaming – News

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan confirms in an interview that Nixxes has been acquired with the aim of bringing more PlayStation games to PC. The Dutch studio is known for its work on PC versions of various titles.

Ryan says he is pleased with the efforts made so far to bring PlayStation games to PC, but also indicates that this is still in its infancy. “We look forward to working with Nixxes to help us do that,” he said in a statement interview with the Japanese Famitsu.

Start of July Sony announced it was acquiring Nixxes and to be incorporated into the Technology, Creative & Services Group of PlayStation Studios. That already indicated that the studio will not make its own games, but will assist existing Sony studios in the technical field.

Nixxes was founded in 1999 and is located in Utrecht. The studio is known for work and optimizations on PC versions of games primarily developed for consoles. Nixxes has worked on Tomb Raider, Hitman and Deus Ex games, and most recently Marvel’s Avengers.

Last year, Sony released Horizon Zero Dawn a major PlayStation title to PC for the first time and followed this year Days Gone. Also Uncharted 4 seems to be coming to PCsbut when is not yet known. Sony has previously indicated that it wants to release more of its games for PCs.
