The songs with which all artists would participate in the now postponed Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam in May are excluded from participation in 2021. This does not apply to the artists themselves, the organization reports Friday via Twitter.
The organization behind the Eurovision Song Contest says it is thinking about an alternative programming around the canceled international song contest. The aim is to honor the songs and participants selected for 2020.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the Eurovision Song Contest was canceled due to the corona virus. Broadcaster AVROTROS made it immediately clear that Jeangu Macrooy will continue to be the Dutch participant in 2021.
A spokesman for AVROTROS informed NU.nl that the broadcaster had already been notified by the organization of the Eurovision song contest prior to the public announcement. It is not known whether this also applied to Macrooy.

The coronavirus in short
- The coronavirus mainly spreads through sneezing and cough drops. The virus can be transmitted directly from person to person or (for a limited time) through surfaces such as door handles.
- An infected person infects two to three others on average. Precautions are necessary to contain this.
- The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
- Nearly all deaths involve the elderly or other frail, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
- Read here what precautions you should take.
