Jared Kushner, son-in-law and top advisor to US President Donald Trump, met with Kanye West. He confirmed this to journalists at the White House on Thursday.
Kushner and Kanye spoke in Colorado last week. When asked whether Kushner had discussed Trump’s campaign with Kanye, he replied in the negative. “We’ve talked about general affairs, more about policy.”
West was previously an outspoken supporter of Trump. That sparked speculation that he is running to steal votes from the president’s rival, the Democrat Joe Biden. The former vice president under Barack Obama benefited from the support of black Americans during his party’s recent primaries.
Kanye West announced in July that he wants to participate in the presidential election this year. He previously reported that he had ambitions to become president in 2024. Kanye has now managed to get on the electoral lists in Colorado, Vermont and Oklahoma with his Birthday Party. The rapper is still working on other states, although he has already missed several deadlines. In Illinois, he’s been denied because signatures Kanye’s team collected are invalid.
