“Last year was another unprecedented period of extreme weather and climate cataclysms,” Guterres was quoted as saying by world media.
According to him, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has reached its maximum, exceeding the pre-industrial level by 148%.
Guterres stressed that this is the highest figure in three million years, when the Earth’s temperature was three degrees higher and sea level was 15 meters higher.
