The Xunta de Galicia maintains 30 Galician municipalities -among them the seven large cities- with meetings limited only to cohabitants due to the epidemiological evolution due to the Covid-19 pandemic with the in order to stop the contagions.

This is stated in a decree published by the Xunta in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) half an hour before the entry into force of the measures at 3:00 p.m. this Friday, adopted in the morning at the clinical subcommittee meeting.

The decree of the Presidency of the Xunta, signed by the head of the Galician Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, specifies that the limitations of meetings of groups only of cohabitants affects the municipalities of A Coruña, Arteixo, Lugo, Pontevedra, Poio, Marín, Santiago de Compostela, Teo, Ames, Vigo, Ferrol, Narón, Fene, Neda, Vimianzo, Ourense, Barbadás, Verín, Oímbra, Vilardevós, O Barco de Valdeorras, O Carballiño, Beariz, Boborás, O Irixo, Maside, Piñor, Punxín, San Amaro and San Cristovo de Cea.

Of the thirty municipalities, a total of 14 are new municipalities that will see the meetings of people limited to groups of cohabitants, because in the province of Ourense and in Santiago de Compostela that restriction was already in force.

However, the Xunta clarifies that “this limitation will not prevent the meeting with people who do not live together that occur for reasons of assistance and care for the elderly, minors, dependents or people with disabilities, or due to force majeure or situation of need.”

This limitation will not be applicable either in the case of labor, institutional, business, professional and administrative activities, activities in university, educational, training and occupational centers, as well as in the case of practicing federated sports, “provided that the necessary measures are adopted provided for in the corresponding operating protocols “.

Likewise, after listening to the recommendations of the clinical subcommittee meeting this Friday, the Xunta justifies that “the limitation of entry and exit of people proceeds” in the territorial scope jointly delimited by the municipalities of A Coruña and Arteixo; as well as in Pontevedra, Poio and Marín; in Santiago, Teo and Ames; and in Ferrol, Narón, Fene and Neda.

Also the Xunta, on the recommendation of health experts, has agreed to limit entry and exit in the municipalities of Lugo, Vigo and in the Coruña of Vimianzo before the advance of Covid-19 in those territories.

This territorial limitation is jointly maintained in the municipalities of Ourense and Barbadás; as well as in those of O Carballiño, O Irixo and Boborás and in those of Verín, Oímbra and Vilardevós.

However, those “adequately justified” trips that occur for reasons such as assistance to health centers, services and establishments are exempt from the limitation; compliance with labor, professional, business, institutional or legal obligations.

Added to this is attendance at university, teaching and educational centers, including nursery schools. The return to the place of habitual or family residence is also allowed; assistance or care for the elderly, minors, dependents, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable.

Also trips to financial and insurance entities or service stations in neighboring territories, as well as required or urgent actions before public, judicial or notarial bodies; renewal of permits and official documentation and other administrative procedures that cannot be postponed and the performance of exams or official tests that cannot be postponed.

However, the Xunta points out in this decree that “circulation in transit through the territorial areas in which the limitation is applicable shall not be subject to any restriction.” CAPACITY

The Department of Health has explained that the measures concerning the limitation of perimeter mobility and the restriction of meetings between cohabitants have come into effect from 3:00 p.m. this Friday.

Meanwhile, in the case of the measures that modify the limits of the capacity in the municipalities, Sanidade has ratified that their publication will take place this Saturday in the Official Gazette of Galicia.

The measures established this Friday will be in effect until next Tuesday, November 3, when the clinical committee will meet again and assess whether their continuity is necessary.

“In favor of the principles of necessity and proportionality, the measures should be subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation, in order to guarantee their adaptation to the epidemiological and sanitary situation”, clarifies the Xunta, which points out that “they will be reviewed in a maximum period of seven days “.
